Listings Project: Website & Social Media Illustration
The client
Listings Project is a platform that connects people with vetted housing and job opportunities in their area. In their own words, they are “a global community offering free and equitable access to carefully vetted real estate and job opportunities.”
Their positioning line is Find your place. Find your people.
The brief
I was commissioned to create illustration for their website and social media. The work included illustrated scenes for the site, iconography for their social channels and their community content.
The result
A set of community scenes built around the idea of people sharing space: a group sharing a meal at a table, a figure reading among houseplants, someone working at a desk, people moving and exchanging keys. The cast is deliberately varied in age, ethnicity and body type, including people with visible disabilities, which matters for a platform whose whole promise is equitable access.
What made this interesting
The design problem was representation. The platform’s promise is that housing and work should be accessible to everyone, so the illustration could not show one kind of person, the cast had to look like the community the platform actually serves, or the artwork would contradict the product.
